REVIEW: The Body Shop All-In-One BB Cream

This I am guessing is the most awaited reviews of all. I have been receiving review requests for this TBS BB Cream since so long that I simply caved in and got down to the business of reviewing it for you guys only :)
Before I start, let me tell you that I LOVE IT! I think this says it all and you may want to skip reading through what follows... But still humor me, be kind to me and indulge me and read my review ;)

After the let down by Maybelline's BB Cream, I was quite wary of trying another BB Cream but the TBS junkie that I am, I had to get this All-In-One BB Cream when I came to know that they had launched it recently and it was supposed to be more apt for Indian skin tones than the previous BB cream TBS had come out with... Now ideally my shade is 02, but they were out of stock and I came home with shade 03 and it still suits me! Yes girls, it adapts to your complexion!!! It's just fabulous!

I am not sure how would it suit Oily skinned beauties though cause my super dry skin is extremely happy with this BB Cream... So if you have oily skin, you might first have to try it out at the store and then decide on whether you want to buy it or not...

The BB Cream contains some really microscopic granules that start bursting and create an orangish cast for the first 2 seconds after application... Fret not, blend it well and voila! you are left with something of a beautiful glow on your face that looks like second skin :)

The product looks gorgeous on your face with as well as without flash...

But let me tell you, it doesn't really hide any blemishes, it's more of a tinted moisturiser cum face illuminator kind of a product. So if you are looking for blemish coverage then this isn't the product for you...

I would definitely repurchase this. This is almost like an HG product for me... I am on the lookout for shade 02, if I find it then AWESOME else am happy with shade 03 as well ;)

Would I Recommend?
If you  have dry to Normal skin then I would surely recommend it for you. It's a must have product in your vanity if you budget allows. I am not so sure about Oily skinned girls though...

I have ladies and gentlemen decided to start a brand new section where I shall be listing out my favorite products from a particular category like fav products from a particular brand, fav products for traveling, fav products for a particular season and the like and also a link to their reviews... I am hoping it will useful for a lot of you :) So here goes...

My today's post is about my favorite products from The Body Shop :)
These are like most of the TBS products that I am using at the moment... There are a few others that either expired or got over or well are just not worth the mention ;)

1. TBS Banana Shampoo and Conditioner

This shampoo and conditioner duo is something that I am lately swearing by. Since the day I have started using them, my hair hasn't been better :)

I love this body butter for it's refreshing and very yummily real Peachy fragrance. Everytime I smell it, I want to eat it :)

3. TBS Spiced Vanilla Body Butter
This I guess is the most popular TBS body Butter ever! And well for good reason. Nothing can beat its rich and spicy fragrance, which lingers on the whole day without being overpowering... Texture-wise its just perfect too...

4. TBS Extra Virgin Minerals Cream Compact Foundation

I bought this a while ago and I am yet to find a foundation that can beat it. Its a perfect light coverage foundation that doesn't look cakey or unnatural... It just seamlessly blends into one's skin! Though I guess its good for Dry Skin... The Oily skin beauties and try its powder form or even the liquid form :)

5. TBS Satsuma Shimmer Lip Balm
I bought this on a whim and I don't regret it one bit :) It smells fresh and has these tiny granules which I feel keeps exfoliating my lips :)

6. TBS Lip Shine Treatment Gloss in Beige Sparkle
Oh my! This is my favoritest TBS product... It totally transforms me and makes my lips sparkle that attract a lot of attention! Yup am an attention wh*re :P Its this clear gloss with copper-sh and goldenish sparkle in it that shines when I talk :)

7. TBS White Musk Libertine Body Spray
I have been surviving almost 7 months on samples of this spray and I still don't need to buy the full sized bottle cause my samples are yet to completely used-up. Yup! The SA at the TBS store where I go to apparently loves me and keeps giving me tens of these White Musk Libertine samples... In one sentence... THE FRAGRANCE IS HEAVENLY!

8. TBS Spa Wisdom Africa Ximenia and Salt Scrub

I have just recently started using this and I love it already... Unfortunately you'll need to wait a couple of weeks for a full blown review on this :)

9. TBS Jeweled Heart Compact Mirror

There is nothing to say about it other than the fact its super pretty, feels sturdy and not at all cheap and the mirror quality is just wow :) Nope it doesn't have an ounce of plastic... Its metal all the way :)

REVIEW: The Body Shop Spiced Vanilla Body Butter

Hellllloooooo everyone... It feels like a decade that I posted on ISLM (yup I do love a bit of exaggeration here and there :P) and it feels awesome to be back :) I plan to review TBS Spice Vanilla Body Butter and I know it has been reviewed like 27,836 times on the beauty blogosphere already but aren't you a tad bit curious about my take on it? ;)

Spiced Vanilla is a beautifully rich vanilla scented body butter that isn't too sweet. It smells more like a cinnamon doughnut than anything else ;) Its a perfect fragrance for the colder months though and because of the richness of its fragrance I cannot see myself using it in warmer weather... For summers I prefer fruity fragrances like Peach body butter, mango body butter and satsuma body butter... For winters I am loving Spiced Vanilla :)

Though the tub does not specify any skin type, this particular one is suiting my dry skin to the Tee. Just a layer and my skin feels all smooth and pampered. Its fragrance stays on for like really long and when I wore it to office for the first time, everyone of the guys actually turned when I passed them. I swear! I myself feel like I am enveloped in a veil of spicy vanilla the whole day...

1. Heavenly fragrance, not too sweet, not too jarring...
2. Texture is just so smooth and it feels great on dry skin!
3. Available in 50 ml as well 100 ml tubs.
4. Always available at any TBS outlets. It isn't LE.
5. In addition to a lot of oils and cocoa butter extracts, it contains sesame oil as well, which is really very good for one's skin.
6. I like the color of the tub, though in all fairness, all TBS containers look pretty on the dresser.

2. They should mention skin type of the labels!

Definitely! As it is I am already on my 3rd tub!

Would I Recommend?
If you are a sucker for rich textures and fragrances and don't mind smelling like you are ready to be devoured, then go for it ;) This trust me isn't for the weak hearted, who like being in the shadows...

REVIEW: The Body Shop Apricot and Basil 100% Biodegradable Shower Gel

Yes yes yes, I hauled and TBS and now TBS reviews are the kind of posts that you will be literally bombarded with :P Today it is The Body Shop Apricot and Basil 100% Biodegradable Shower Gel from the Earth Lovers Collection...

True to it's name, it sure is a treasured collection for Earth Lovers because of it being 100% biodegradable. It is sulphates and paraben free and if you are still not happy then let me tell you that the bottle of the shower gel is made out of 100% recycled plastic... Now this sure should be a great way of celebrating The World Environment Day! Ha ha :)

The light green semi transparent bottle itself looks really pretty and feminine and the interesting combinations that TBS has come up with where core ingredients are concerned and simply so attractive! Apricot and Basil in a shower gel... Now who could have thought of that? It's pure genius :)

The shower gel lathers up really well and a small amount goes a long way without a doubt! And that's where the good things end...

One major issue that I have with the product is that it is very very drying and not a very comfortable product to use for people with dry skin... And do note that this review is during the Monsoons!!! Oily skin and normal skin would just love it! :) Another small con with the product is that the product itself is very "runny" and not at all like a shower "gel"!

7. Comes in a variety of combinations and hence it is really easy to choose on the basis of your preference :)

1. It dries up the skin and hence isn't very suitable for dry skin.
2. The texture of the product is quite runny and not at all like a gel!

Repurchase?
Unfortunately, no! I really prefer moisturising or at least non-drying shower gels.

It is very drying for dry skin but that spells good news for Oily skinned and even noramal skinned beauties out there :)

REVIEW: The Body Shop Beautifying Oil in Sweet Lemon

Oh yeah baby... I hauled at TBS :) I said ba*ls to my makeup shopping ban and went all out and shopped at TBS... La la la... It makes me feel so good ;) LOL... I entered the TBS store at Phoenix Market City with my mind already made up as to what all I wanted to purchase and well I bought these :)


A few days ago while I was researching for TBS products I realised there wasn't many reviews on Indian blogs about these beautifying oils that TBS had come out with... I knew in an instant I had to try out these oils and review them for you guys here ;) *yeah yeah I am so considerate :P* But honestly? You really cannot keep a dry-skinned, oil-junkie away from a beautifying oil now can you? ;)

I picked up Sweet Lemon cause I wanted something citrus and I was sooooo over choco and cocoa fragrances! Fragrance-wise I do not regret cause it really smells fresh though to some it may smell a tad bit like "Lizol-Lemon" :P Am just saying, smell all the oils and then buy the fragrance you like the most ;) Yup all the oils are for all skin types so opting for one of these is really a no-brainer :P

They Say...
The TBS Sweet Lemon Beautifying Oil is essentially a dry oil for body, face and hair that moisturises, smoothes and illuminates. It is made with cold-pressed lemon seed oil from Italy and 3 precious nut oils: kukui, sweet almond and community fair trade marula oil.
It is to be applied to damp or dry skin and dry hair.

Now the fact that it can applied to the body, the face and your hair is basically a boo-boo to people who claim that products that are good for your body are too harsh for your face :P Oh yeah people do say that to me often ;) But honestly? This is an average product...  It does do what it claims but then even Johnson's Baby Oil does the same for me!

The oil is moisturising no doubt and you do need a very less amount of it really, but it makes my hair oily and it doesn't really get absorbed totally... I love that but am sure a lot of you wont :P

2. Its great as a massage oil.
3. I like the pretty bottle with the golden coloured oil in it :)
4. You need very little of the product and hence it goes on for like ever!

3. They could have made a pump-dispenser kind of a bottle for it.

It costs a whopping INR895/- for 100ml.

Repurchase?
Nope! Its too expensive for an oil that does exactly what Johnson's baby oil does for me!

Would I Recommend?
If you have a lot of money to spare or if someone has dared you to buy it, only then go for it. Any other way you are better off without it! No! It's not a bad product! It's pretty good! But it's too expensive for an oil that does nothing more that other oils that are available in the market.

REVIEW: The Body Shop Chocomania Body Lotion

Diamonds they say are a girl's best friend. Makeup comes a close second, followed by chocolates and then flowers... At least that's what works for me :P And TBS kinda struck gold with the launch of their Chocomania range just around Valentine's Day this year. Skin and body care with a dark chocolate flavor and well women around the world just went berserk ;)

I finally got myself the Chocomania body lotion (I had been meaning to get it since a long time) and well the rest as they say is just history :) It's a yummy creamy chocolatey body lotion which comes in this pump bottle that can be twisted to open or close and hence it makes it super convenient to even carry it in your bag! What genius!

The chocolatey flavour is not of shea butter or even cocoa butter... It is super different. Rather than reminding me of Bournville or Dairy Milk, it reminds me of KitKat! Why? Because after you take in the chocolatey aroma, you are left with a "biscuity after aroma". Hope that makes sense to you! Flavor wise I love it!

Does it moisturise well? Hmmm. It does its job if not more and the results are satisfactory. I do tend to sometimes reach out to my Garnier Body Cocoon :(

The product has just one con... And for me it is a MAJOR con! It tastes bitter! LOL no I do not eat my body lotions. When I say bitter, I mean if I apply it on my arms and hands and then I apply a lip balm with my fingers, the bitterness of the lotion transfers to my lips! If I have the lotion on, on my hands and I say eating a biscuit or an orange or a chapati, my mouth tastes bitter and no the bitterness isn't subtle it is BITTER! And I hate it for that. Am not sure if this bitterness issue is with all chocomania products, but the body lotion sure seems to have it! :(

The "pati" hates the bitter taste too and I am saying no more than that :P

REVIEW: The Body Shop Born Lippy Lip Balm in Satsuma Shimmer

It is very rare that I get to see my name (Suma) at places other than my notebooks and my cube and so wherever else I see it I get excited! :P One instance was when I joined my latest company. My company's this building shares the building space with two other companies. So the parking lot is divided into three lots with parking space color coded. So every parking level has these index signs where each company has been matched to a specific color. Imagine my surprise when I am looking for a parking space on my first day at work and the board reads a third company called "Suma Shilp"! LOL...

Another instance that seems more relevant to the topic at hand was when I went shopping for my sister's birthday to The Body Shop. Now these TBS people are really smart... After you select these exorbitantly priced stuff and are then standing at the counter waiting to pay your bill, they tempt you with this whole glass jar of tiny dibbis of lip butters and balms and other paraphernalia. The glass jar sits there ubiquitously, so much so that we never realise that we invariably get tempted and pick up at least one little "dibbi", thinking "I have already bought stuff worth 3K, I might as well spend another 200 bucks... Big Deal!"... Raise hands if this happens with you as well :P

So the other day I am waiting to be "billed" when I see this little orange dibbi of lip balm sitting defenselessly in the glass jar and I instantly zero over the word "Suma" on it :D hahahahahha... Yup it was Satsuma and it excited me so much that I had to buy it!

I brought the little wonder home with me and I realised it smelled of freshly squeezed orange juice and had these tiny little shimmer particles in it. I fell in love the second time ;)

If I get it int he stick form, I'll buy that else this :)

Definitely! If dipping your finger into the pot isn't a problem for you then you must definitely get it!

REVIEW: The Body Shop Rainforest Moisture Haircare Range

I don't know if you all have noticed the slow pace of my doing posts lately but if you have then I am sorry for it as my skin is still recovering from the Holi Aftermath and I am not really using many products on my skin. It is getting better but I guess it still needs a few more days. On the other hand, my hair is recovering faster and it is because of TBS Rainforest Moisture Shampoo, COnditioner and Hair Butter :)

The TBS Rainforest Moisture Shampoo, Conditioner and Hair Butter are some wonder products and I am seriously considering making them my HG hair products. They are perfect for thirsty hair like mine cause they truly moisturise my hair and make them so soft and touchable :) So much so that I am for a change loving my waves :) I have very coarse and dry hair that has a wavy texture and hence is extremely unmanageable and dull to look at. But this range has helped me make my hair so manageable that I am quite loving my hair now :)

These are as you all may already know are sulphates free, parabens free, silicones free and colorants free :) And to top it off, they do not test on Animals :) What more could you ask for?
Fragrance wise, the Rainforest Moisture range have a very soft and an understated fragrance that is calming and soothing :) Needless to say I love it and the "pati" loves it too :) I find the smell very similar to Revlon Flex shampoo though the "pati" finds it smelling like almonds... Hmmm, I would suggest you to listen to me and not him ;)

Recommendation:
I would highly recommend it for people with dry and thick hair. Beauties with fine hair should stay away cause the conditioner and the hair butter tends to make fine hair heavy :( (my mom's experience)

REVIEW & LOTD: The Body Shop Lip Treatment Gloss in Beige Sparkle

With my sudden interest in Nude Make-Up, I had to go and get myself a clear lip gloss and well with my TBS membership and my need for a nude gloss coinciding it isn't a coincidence that I got myself a TBS Clear Gloss :) And that is one impulsive purchase that I shall never ever regret! I think this statement says it all and it doesn't need a full fledged review anymore but I shall still continue :P

The gloss is thick but surprisingly not very sticky. It has these really tiny sparkly particles that give this shine to the lips while talking making it almost seem as if my lips were twinkling :) heheheh.. pretty right? :) Plus the gloss does not cause me any sort of irritation like a lot of glosses do and it somehow tend to plump up my peepers without the tingling sensation :) It's almost like magic and I guess it isn't really a shocker that I am totally in love with this lip product! :) And the best part it stays on for like the longest time ever! Even after a cup of tea, some biscuits and fruits it stays put :) Dunno bout the colored counterparts but this clear gloss is a sure winner!

If you are finicky bout glosses like I am and hate the sticky and sometimes even runny consistency of some glosses then go for this. Its heavy but not uncomfortable sticky and stays on for like really long :)

My Mumbai Weekend Trip :)

Hello beautiful people :) I am back from another weekend vacation from Mumbai all refreshed. I am sure you wonder how much "refreshments" I need in a month ;) Hahahaha.. This time was special cause "pati" also accompanied me and well "pati", mamma and I had a blast! :) We went to Sassoon Dock early in the morning where we witnessed all fishermen hauling their catch (fish) on to the jetty and people scrambling to buy them at less than wholesale prices! This was something totally new for me and I was astounded at the variety and the size of fish that people catch and we eat :P Being a sea food junkie I was in sea food heaven with crabs, lobsters, king prawns and pomphrets :) You cannot even fathom the amount of fish we brought back home and best part is we even got a huge ice-box filled with sea food with us to Pune :) heheheheheheh... yup we are celebrating sea-food fest this month at home :P

Apart from this we checked out and dined at "Pizza By The bay" on Marine Drive (yes my mumbai readers totally know what I am talking about especially the townies :P) and then watched "Paan Singh Tomar" at Inox in CR2 (Cuffe Parade). A Sunday well spent! :D Then of course a trip to Mumbai isn't over for me when I haven't haggled with the street vendors on Colaba Causeway and bought this cute pair of cotton shorts and a tube dress :) Perfect for Mumbai Summers :) and then of course raided the Body Shop outlet on the causeway... All in all a perfect Saturday.. Wouldn't you agree :)

REVIEW & LOTD: The Body Shop Extra Virgin Mineral Cream Compact in Golden Vanilla

Phew! Thats a long name in the title of the post ;) This perhaps is the most awaited review since a long time but seriously guys I needed to try this foundation out nice and proper before I gave you all an honest and an extensive insight about this product. So then let me start at the beginning...

I do not use a lot of TBS cosmetics, only their solid perfumes and the Tropical Rainforest range of their haircare products. But I still generally go through the various stuff on display to make mental notes and to tally with my previously made mental notes. Weird? Nah! :P So while "aisle" shopping, I saw this foundation and on a whim picked it up... The SA I must say was really good and she was able to tell my shade bang on. I haven't seen anybody so confident and yet so right about someone's skin tone as she was! :D Thats a plus while shopping now isn't it? :)

Once I got this home, I kept it in the "ghar ka mandir" for about an hour praying to God that it suit me and that this would prove to be my HG foundation. Yes I sometimes do that. I did that with my first MAC buy as well and with my most of my cosmetics that come a bit "expensive" :D So after I did a full aarti type puja, I took the foundation out, opened the package and fell in love with it. Awesome packaging, great quality foundation brush, odorless product... What else do you need? yes yes you need to check out the product on you before a verdict right? So I did that. I applied it and it felt like butter... It blended it out smoothly on my skin, the brush was soft yet firm, the shade was perfect and my skin looked all glowy and hydrated :) I fell in love for the second time :)

After I did my make-up and preened and pranced around the house, I removed it and went off to sleep. I wake up the next morning to see not one but TWO zits on my face! And my face never breaks out!!! Can you imagine the betrayal I felt? I was heart broken! The way I fell in love with this product and the way he betrayed me was just so painful :( I did not touch it for a couple of days when I observed that my skin had started drying up and flaking! Can u imagine, on one hand I have to care about two stupid zits and on the other my skin totally starts flaking! I just couldn't understand as to what was going on! Ok I wont go into further details but I finally found out that it wasn't the TBS foundation but the Pears Gentle Face Wash that was doing all this to my skin!!!! Sighhhh! Was I relieved or what!

So anyways.. Final Verdict: I have found my HG foundation. It was MAC first but this is way cheaper ;)

Oh btw I bought it in the shade Golden Vanilla and I am MAC NC40 :)

2. Gives a nice glowy and a healthy finish.
3. Has tons of shades to match almost every skin tone.
4. The brush that is comes with is just perfect!
5. It stays on for pretty long and even stays put in the sun.
6. Is waterproof.
7. Does not streak due to sweat!
8. Comes in a nice and convenient cream compact form. This form is my favorite! :) Very easy to carry around.
9. Does not cause allergies, breakouts and reactions ;)
10. It gives medium coverage (I loathe the heavy coverage ones!)

Definitely! Since its my HG I am even contemplating on buying a couple of back-ups and stocking them up! 

Would I Recommend?
Oh yes! I would recommend it to all dry/normal skinned beauties... I am not sure if will suit oily skinned girls though it suits Ankita from Corallista who has oily skin :)
