Pond's Made Femina Miss India Pune 2013 "Gorgeously Alive"

Those of you who follow me on Twitter and like my Facebook Page would know that I was invited by Ponds to attend the Ponds Femina Miss India Pune 2013 event held at the Marriott Hotel and Convention Center yesterday evening. You can imagine my excitement and the hustle bustle that must have gone in rushing back home from office, getting ready in my "beauty blogger" avatar and of course trying to control the pati's over excitement about watching gorgeous models strut their stuff on the ramp :D Yup! I took him along too and well I guess he is now a fan of my beauty blogging hobby for life ;)

I did some research and found that this year the Miss India contest would be held in laps and folds, with auditions taking place in 12 cities, followed by pageants in 7 cities and finally the winners of the pageants being given direct entry into the Ponds Femina Miss India 2013 final contest to be held in Mumbai. I was invited to the Pune pageant leg and well the rest as they is history :)

Loved The Lighting!

From the entrance of the hotel to of course the hall where the event was held, Pond's presence was commanding. The title sponsors of the event, Ponds was everywhere and it made me realise how the brand had evolved over the years from just a cold cream name to a premium skin care range today. They had a stall showcasing their revolutionary products from Anti-ageing Gold serums to night creams, from fairness solutions to daily care.

Quoting the Hindustan Unilever Vice President, Arun Srinivas said "Ponds believes that a woman is born beautiful and the Ponds product helps her maintain it." He further added that Ponds as a brand helps women understand their beauty and give them more confidence. Thus collaborating with Femina Miss India is like coming together of two powerful brands to host one of the most prestigious beauty pageants in India.

The event started on a nostalgic note with a slideshow video of all Miss India's from the start to the latest. A special feature was done on Meher Mistry who was crowned as the first ever Miss India in 1964. She still looked so graceful and came out as elegant and sophisticated :)

After the slideshow, they had a beautiful Ponds ad which had a soothing song playing in the background depicting on how Ponds made women "Gorgeously Alive" by their revolutionary products... I don't know about the message but I totally loved the song and I have been trying to find it on youtube but in vain :( If I get it, I'll share it with you guys...

The Judges Panel

The chief guest of the evening was none other than Randeep Hooda... Yes ladies, he really is very handsome in person! I was dying to take a closeup pic with him, but honestly, I was too shy to do it, so I was happy clicking pictures from 4 rows behind :P Then there was Manjiri Phadnis ( of Jaane Tu Na Jaane Na fame) in the panel of judges and well the pati went all ga-ga over her :P
The entertainment was provided by the Bollywood composer and singer duo Sajid-Wajid and a dance troupe called Sharp Shooters! One word to describe them... F.A.B.U.L.O.U.S.

 The events started with Apoorva Lonkar being crowned Pond's Miss Glowing Skin and Manasi Moghe being crowned as Lakme Miss Eyeconic eyes and felicitated by Mr. Arun Srinivas, Vice President Hindustan Unilever Ltd. Finally Saniah Baig was crowned Ponds Femina Miss India Pune 2013 and felicitated by Randeep Hooda himself! Lucky Girl! ;)

All and all a beautiful evening and my moment of pride of being a beauty blogger :)

Blast From the Past: Am I old enough to...

I was going through my older articles the other day, when I came across this. I am a year older than when I had written this but I still am yet to act on it... I am sure many of you haven't read this post of mine :) SO here you go and do let me know of your insights :)

A few days ago I turned a quarter of a century old and it gave rise to a very nagging question in my mind... Should I or should I not start using anti-aging products? Well you see I asked around a bit... Asked my friends, my mom, my sisters, my boyfriend's friend's girl friends and even people at work as to what is the right age to start using these "miraculous potions"... The replies were varied and to say the least, they left me with nothing but the thought that I know me best and I could just give them a try for once ;)

I know 25 is not really much but Hullo!! We are talking about lifestyle trends and all that might just cause me to age faster (wtf)... Am I being paranoid here? I mean am I just trying to be an idiot who cannot take a small decision herself?
But you see, to use or not to use is actually no small question... It is a life altering step that shall decide whether I am ready to take a leap towards being not so young anymore. If I start using these products will I be conceding myself to be starting to age? I don't want to admit that age might be catching up with me and neither do I want to acknowledge the fact that my skin now might start needing extra special care!
On the other hand I know my lifestyle isn't really that great! I sleep late, wake up late, use tons of products on my face and hair, use make-up like crazy, most of the times I don’t even bother to remove my make-up before falling off to sleep, I don’t drink enough water, I work in the AC for 8 hours at a stretch, then drive myself around in an AC car...
HENCE I WORRY!

I worry cause I know if I don't wake-up now it might just be too late... But again what is early and what is late? Who can tell me what the right time to start using these products is?

But hey! They are "anti-aging" products aren't they? This means they aren't supposed to be used after you start aging. They are to be used so that they prevent you from starting to age! LOLZ. Why didn't I think of this before? Of course I shall get myself a bottle of Olay or Ponds Age miracle or whatever cause I am young and I want to prevent my skin from aging.

Let me repeat it for myself "I AM YOUNG, I WANT TO PREVENT AGING MY SKIN" Ha! Now that's better...
Next? I get myself something anti-aging ;)

My all time favorite winter soap is Dove. I have had a good relationship with many of the Dove products and hence I use dove soap to wash my facial skin too without any fear; but this time, I changed to Mysore sandal soap and hence needed a gentle face wash that doesn't dry out my skin this winter because I feel that most of the soaps even leave oily skin dry and tight. When I went for shopping, I picked this Ponds Daily face wash, the green colored tube and going to review it now.

Product Description:

The first step in facial care for soft, smooth skin. For clean and soft skin that glows. Suitable for normal, dry, oily and combination skin types.

How it works:

• Thoroughly cleanses without leaving slippery feeling on skin.
• Clears skin. 100% soap free formula with rich lather penetrates and removes deep rooted dirt, leaving your skin cleaner and smoother.
• Gentle on skin. Active cleansing system clears gently and cares for your skin better than soap.

Results: Clean, soft, glowing skin.


Price and Quantity:
Rs.38 for 50g


Usage Directions:
Splash face with water and apply face wash on face and neck. Rinse off. Pat dry. If face wash gets into your eyes, rinse well with water.

My Experience with this Product:

Packaging: This face wash comes in a white tube with a light green flip type cap. The product is completely safe for travel usage and still, the flip cap is a bit tight to open every time.  

Colour, Consistency and Fragrance: This face wash is white in colour and has a very creamy consistency. The fragrance is pleasant and refreshing; wouldn't bother sensitive noses either.

How it works: Finally I got a wonderful face wash which suits my normal-oily skin well in winter. I feel very comfortable till now from the first time I started using this Ponds daily face wash. It smells pleasant and does the cleansing job really well.  I know this is the HG face wash for most of you out there and of course for me too in hard drying winters. I am using this face wash twice everyday and one 50g tube comes for a month.

Pros of Ponds Daily Face Wash:

• It consists of Vitamin E and Glycerin, which are good moisturizing ingredients.
• It comes in a handy tube which looks simple and attractive.
• Unlike other soaps and face washes, it doesn't make my skin feel tight at all.
• Its very affordable and full worth of money.
• It softens the skin and made my finger to touch my face all time. It made my skin really smooth.
• It has a wonderful fragrance which is light and pleasant.
• The 100 % soap free system is safe to use in any kind of skin hence it has no side effects
• It is suitable to use for all skin types except very oily skin.

Cons of Ponds Daily Face Wash:

• I found it hard to open the flip cap every time :( It is a bit tight I guess.
• This face wash doesn't get washed off quickly and needs more water than usual to get rinsed off completely.
• People who have very oily skin might not like this as it doesn't help with oil secretion and makes skin little greasy after 2-3 hours of face wash (Only if your skin is oily) 

My Recommendation: Its a great product and I recommend everyone to try this wonderful face wash, especially in winters. You would love to touch your soft skin as I did :D
