10 Essential Hairfall Rescue Tips

Guest Post by Shruti Lakshman

Hiee!! You can call me a late bloomer!! What I mean to say is that I got introduced to the fascinating world of skin care, hair care and makeup very recently.:) I am a software engineer from Mumbai but now based in Chennai. I spend a considerable amount of my time in office looking at beauty blogs and that's when I came across this blog ;). I love the fact that you review goodies which are affordable and the tips you give me are quite useful. I love writing and its been a long time since I wrote something apart from software codes!! I also love animals (be it fluffy, four legged or 3 legged). This is my 1st article on anything related to beauty and hope you all like it!!

Given the stressful lives we all live nowadays, I am not surprised to see everybody complaining of 1 thing! Yes, I am talking about hair loss. The crowning glory on which we, not just women but men too nowadays, spend a lot of time taking care of. I live in a humid city where no matter how many times I wash my face, I start looking like an overflowing oil can. I find time to wash my face but not my hair often (Yes you can imagine its state then!!!). So here are certain things I follow to ensure that I don’t end up looking like Mogambo ( if you havn’t seen Mr India , go watch it)

  • First and foremost, never comb wet hair. It’s something we all do when we are pressed for time (guilty). But wet hair equals fragile hair which easily tends to break. Let it dry naturally.

  • Always use a wide toothed comb. People say its difficult to comb with it but trust me. It’s easier than it looks.

  • Towel drying is another issue.  Picture this. A piece of cloth being washed on the stone by beating it repeatedly on the stone. Now replace the stone with your hair. Get it? Just gently rub the towel on your hair.

  • ALWAYS COVER your hair with something when you travel. Use old dupattas.

  • Use shampoos which do not have SLS, SLES and parabens.

  • Do not use conditioner every time you shampoo. Restrict it to once a week or 2.

  • Essential oils like Rosemary, Clary Sage and Basil are very good for combating hair fall. Add a couple of drops to coconut, olive or almond oil and apply it to your scalp. Worked wonders for me!!

  • Do not tie up your hair too tightly. It makes hair vulnerable. Also gives a headache.

  • Every night comb your hair atleast once to remove knots.

  • AND THE MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL- Do not stress too much about hair fall. You stress, your hair stresses. It’s a vicious cycle.

I hope these small tips help you guys. Stay stress free and have a good hair day!!

Parachute Advansed Ayurvedic Hair Oil Review

Hair oil plays an important role in hair care, that too in this hard drying winter. Hence I wanted to try a good nourishing hair oil to strengthen my hair and prevent from this winter moisture loss and hence picked up this one when I went for shopping last month. I personally don't like the pure coconut oil smell :P and also afraid of trying artificially flavored ones so I opted for this ayurvedic one. Parachute is a well known famous brand, so I selected the Parachute Ayurvedic Hair oil to stop my winter hair breakage. In this post I am going to share my experience with this hair oil for past 4 weeks along with it's pros and cons.

Parachute Advanced Ayurvedic Hair Oil
(Controls Hair Fall and Grows Hair Longer)
Price           : Rs. 40 for 95ml
Shelf Life   : 3 years

What does the Parachute Advanced Ayurvedic Hair Oil Claims
This is what written on the top wrapper:
  • Based on clinical study 97% in average hair fall scores.
  • Basis hair growth with everyday application of coconut-based hair oils vs unoiled hair.
  • The oil nourishes the hair roots, scalp effectively and controls hair fall. So that you can enjoy long thick and beautiful hair.
  • The usage of this hair oil also promotes hair growth, prevents pre-mature greying and controls dandruff. So that your hair stays healthy.
The below things are written on the pamphlet inside the pack with usage instructions:
(These things are written in more than 5 Indian languages :) so that people could easily understand the claims and usage instructions of this oil in their own language )

How this Oil works on Hair fall control and Hair Growth
  • This oil effectively controls hair fall and rejuvenates your scalp.
  • The natural herbs in the oil balance the aggravating doshas and render good natural growth of your hair.
  • It also reduces pre-mature graying, dryness and dandruff problems.
Usage Instructions:
1. Massage the oil on your scalp and hair. Leave overnight.
2. Use regularly instead of current using hair oil.

Some more points about this product
(Actually this was in a frequently asked question and answer type which is written on the pamphlet, but I don't want to bore you all :P I will just list out the important points of what they say about their hair oil)
  1. This oil has been tested by the International Academy of Ayurved. This oil also received the stamp of approval, guaranteeing hair fall control from this academy.
  2. Many of the users see results within 4 weeks of usage. The time taken may vary with severity of the hair fall and age of the person.
  3. Everyone in your family can use this regularly.
Consistency and Colour of this Hair Oil

The consistency seems like a normal coconut oil with little brownish shade. Isn't it? I felt the same but the oil contains tiny herbal particles which settles down and make it look brownish when seen opening the cap. So I felt that the whole oil will be really dark while buying this.. Thank god. It is not at all much dark or thick
Little Note: (As this cap is open/close type, no need to throw the bottle after the oil gets over. :) It's a good plastic bottle which is reusable)
Take a look below..

The flip type cap makes the oil easier to use and travel friendly :D

The Pamphlet (Which comes inside the wrapper)

My View About Parachute Advanced Ayurvedic Hair Oil
Hope the above pictures explained about the package and consistency. That's okay I'll tell you once again. The pack comes in a plastic bottle (same as the normal coconut oil of parachute) which is blue and orange mixed in colour, I loved it. To say about the consistency, it's a bit thicker than the plain coconut oil, just a bit, but I am sure not too thick at all.
I personally the hate plain coconut oil smell :P hate it to core! But this doesn't smell much like the plain coconut oil as it contains other herbs. My mild herbal smell overcame the yucky coconut one :) Even though I didn't fell in love with its fragrance, it doesn't irritate me at all, I felt pretty good. I usually never use oils at day time, so I use this one every night and wash off in the next day morning. To say the truth, it reduced hair fall like a miracle, yes it does. I don't know whether it suited me well or suit everyone but this winter, it cured my dry scalp controlled hair fall and stopped hair breakage. It also removed split ends and dryness up to an extent and my hair feels smoother than before now. It eliminated dandruff too! Parachute Ayurvedic Hair Oil lives up to its claims.

PROS
  1. Very affordable and worth buying.
  2. Comes in a tight flip cap, thus it becomes travel friendly too.
  3. The quantity is great for just 40 Rs :P
  4. Reduced my dandruff and dryness in the scalp within one week of daily night usage.
  5. The nourishing effect also controls hair breakage and hair fall like a magic.
  6. A gift for dry scalps in all the seasons.
  7. Easily available everywhere because it's parachute :)

CONS
  1. I feel that it surely wouldn't suit me for day time usage as it makes my hair look much oilier and heavy (Most of the hair oils does it, so it's not a huge con at all)
  2. I am okay with the smell, but some sensitive noses may not like it.
  3. Bit harder to wash away with shampoo when compared to the plain coconut oils. It doesn't washes off much easily.
Do you want me to list out more cons for this price and quality? :D I don't get anything else as a con. It's a good product overall!
My Rating : 4.5/5 (-0.5 for the sticky feel in oily scalps)
My Recommendation : Go ahead! Give a try. You will love it :) Worth buying.
Will I Shop this Again? : A big yes! :D

Best Home Treatment for Hair Loss

Many of our visitors asked me to write a post which gives natural and herbal remedies for thinning and falling hair. Hair loss is caused when your hair strands get weak and fall out. There are many causes for hair loss such as..
  • Vitamin deficiency
  • Loss of good night sleep
  • Mental stress
  • Improper maintenance
  • Hard water hair wash
  • Particular medicines
  • Pollution and dust
There are also other reasons like harsh combing, avoiding hair oils which nourishes hair which prevents dryness and breakage and usage of chemical cosmetics such as hair straighteners and hair sprays.

So, what can we do to promote healthy hair growth and prevent further hair loss or damage? Do we need to search for branded hair oils or run behind chemical lotions which claims faster hair growth? Do you think they will work? There is a great risk of losing your hair by using scented chemical hair products and cosmetics.
The best thing to do in your home to prevent hair loss and promote regrowth of hair is few natural and organic treatments, which causes no side effects. They keep your hair nourished and prevents hair loss in a very natural way, thus your hair grows healthier, softer and stronger. Let me explain in this post about a Castor oil Hot oil massage home treatment which works very effectively in preventing hair loss.

Castor oil is a vegetable oil which is extracted from the Castor bean. It's very thick in consistency and has a bit uncomfortable smell, but yet it acts as a best natural hair tonic which has lots and lots of hair repairing and nourishing properties. Get pure Castor oil from your nearest grocery shop and store it in a cool dry place.

USES OF CASTOR OIL IN HAIRCARE
  • Nourishes hair and prevents dryness.
  • Makes your hair says goodbye to split ends :))
  • It's antioxidants prevents scalp infection which causes hair fall.
  • Improves blood circulation in your scalp and strengthens hair roots.
  • Promotes faster hair growth that you can visibly see the difference.
  • Eliminates dandruff and leaves hair silky soft for sure :D
  • Thickens hair and makes it shinier with regular use.

HOT OIL MASSAGE WITH CASTOR OIL
  • Take required Castor oil in a small bowl.
  • Extract oil from 2 Vitamin E capsules and mix with the Castor oil (I use Evion Vitamin E capsules :) )
  • Blend this oil mixture well and heat it.
  • After the oil mixture warms down, apply it over your hair and scalp covering the entire hair surface in bearable heat.
  • Use finger tips and palms to massage your scalp gently. Rub the oil gently over split ends too.
  • Now wear a plastic cap over your head and cover it up with a clean towel and leave the oil to penetrate and work on your hair for at least 30 minutes. You can also leave this oil overnight on your hair for better results :)
  • After that, rinse out your hair completely with plenty of fresh water and your regular shampoo without any oil residue.
  • Silky soft and smooth hair which even beats peacock feather is all yours! :D Believe me, I have tried it. Following this hair care routine at least once in a week gives best results within 5 uses, as I listed in the uses of Castor oil above.

NOTE : You can also add some grape seed, almond or any other essential oil with this oil mixture to reduce the thickness of the Castor oil and a little bit uncomfortable smell :P.

Do you still think about the parlor products and chemical lotions to reduce hair loss? :D I hope you all would have started loving Castor oil which gives you a beautiful hair after reading this post! :) Good luck. Leave your comments!

Top 3 Home Remedies for Fast Hair Growth

Many of us think that maintaining long hair is a tough task but we never realize that long and healthy hair adds beauty to women. Some people suffer from hair loss and the others face hair problems like dandruff, thin hair, split ends etc. These hair issues block our hair growth and gives a bad hair. To grow long and strong hair as in the below picture you should follow simple hair rules and home remedies which I am going to list for you now. If you follow these tips and maintain your hair regularly you can get a awesome beautiful looking hair within months. All you have to need is patience and proper maintenance of your precious hair.

Listen friends, I got the following homemade herbal hair care tips from my mom whose hair is really very beautiful even at the age of 54. Do you believe? But it's the truth! Even I feel really jealous of her hair. I took a snap and including it here..!! Take a look below.

(I clicked this today without her knowledge and sorry for the bad quality of pic :D
She will shout at me if she gets to know that I uploaded it here :P ha ha)

Now let's move on to the tips. Read each and every home remedy carefully and follow them without fail to achieve beautiful looking hair.

Tip 1: Hot Oil Massage
There's nothing better than oiling your hair, which gives nourishment and strengthens your hair. But few people really don't like to oil their hair as same as me :) I feel uncomfortable to go out with oil in my hair as it attracts dust, pollution and also gives a bad oily face look. When I fail to oil, I really get a bad brush like hair. You can do HOT OIL MASSAGE at home once or twice in a week to prevent hair from breaking, drying and thinning. This is a very simple procedure of heating oils like coconut oil, castor oil or even olive oil and gently massaging your scalp and hair with this. After massaging we should wash our hair with a good herbal shampoo. This procedure, when followed regularly, improves the blood circulation in the scalp and promotes faster hair growth.

Tip 2: Herbal Hair Massage (After oil massage)
For extra nourishing and thickening of hair, hair pack should be applied at least once in 15 days, especially after the oil massage (Thus the pack penetrates well). It removes the dead follicles and adds volume to your hair. Usually I use an herbal hair pack every week which gives good results in removing dandruff, preventing hair loss and promoting hair growth. This pack is suggested by my mom and I recommend everyone to follow this home treatment for fast growth growth and peacock feather like soft hair.

Things you will need:
1.Tripala
2.Brahmi
3.Tulsi powder
4.Neem powder (Optional)

Preparation Method:
  • Grind Tripala and Brahmi. These herbs are easily available in herbal shops and super markets.
  • Mix Tulsi powder and Neem powder with this paste. Add little water to this mixture to form a smooth hair pack paste.
  • Now apply this paste allover your hair and scalp and wrap hair with a shower cap. Allow this mixture to work on your scalp for at least 40 minutes.
  • Now wash your hair with clean water and mild herbal shampoo.

3. Hair Growth Supplements:
  • Daily intake of Biotin and folic acid pills strengthens hair and adds volume to it, thus the hair would be free from split ends and grow longer. (Consulting your physician is a must before planning to take your supplements)
  • You can also take Vitamin A, C and E for smooth, silky and healthy hair.
  • Add spinach, egg whites, proteins and carrots in your daily diet to see visible faster hair growth.
