In The Spotlight: MAC Club Eye Shadow

Welcome to another edition of "In The Spotlight" and today we are featuring MAC Club eye shadow. When you google MAC Club, you come across mixed reviews about this shade and almost negligible reviews from Indian blogs. We Indians are I guess still exploring the possibilities with makeup and tend to walk on the safe path... Especially for products that cost the earth, we like to checkout reviews online extensively and look at swatches after swatches and then finally go with a shade that seems to be the most popular with all beauty bloggers... We all end up with similar shades of eye shadows like Naked Lunch, Mythology, Expensive Pink, Cork, Carbon Black, Folie, Texture, Rice Paper to name a few...

Now this doesn't quite work for me... Why, I don't know but it just doesn't... Now am not saying don't read reviews on beauty blogs, rather if I said that then I would be putting my feet on the "kulhari" myself :P But what I want to tell you all is that read reviews about a product, but check out swatches in person at the store... For example, review of one MAC eye shadow will be the same for all eye shadows! They are awesome! PERIOD... Browse through various EOTDs but swatch them on yourself before yo buy it cause when you go on a swatching spree at MAC you discover hidden jewels like Nylon, Club, Patina, Green Smoke, Ego, Honesty to name a few :)

So anyways, I got myself this magical eye shadow quite a while back and have even reviewed it here...
REVIEW OF MAC CLUB

The "magical" thing about this eye shadow is that on its own its a pretty, light mossy green eye shadow but when you apply it over a black base, then the shade of green that it takes on is just plain exotic and mysterious :)

Take a look at my EOTD below... It's an attempt at smokey eye and quite a good one that too... Yup I have always been the humble one ;) Now would you believe it if I said that only one shadow i.e. MAC Club has been used to create this smokey eye and no other eye shadow.. Not even black... Yes of course I have used a highlighter shade but thats it! The dimensions this eye shadow gives you is just unparalleled and I am totally smitten by it...

Do let me know what you think of the EOTD and the eye shadow :)

EOTD: Soft Smokey Eyes... Double Winged Liners... Et Al

Till maybe yesterday 8:00 pm, I was on a winged liner roll.. I thought nothing could look cooler than the little flick that I did at the end of my liner... But God had some other plans for me ;) While doing an EOTD for the blog, I messed up my liner while winging it and voila I discovered that I had the ability to do a double winged and it looked good on me :D Yay! So ladies... Here goes...

Excuse The Oily Face :P

With Instagram Effects (I am so Addicted!)

EOTD & Makeup Break-up: Pink and Taupe

It's been a while I did any EOTDs for the blog... And I promise this time it wasn't laziness ;) The thing is as Winters start setting in and the weather becomes dry, I start getting dry patches over my lids and below my chin :( And though I do use an ointment for it, it does take time for them to heal completely... So last night while washing my face after the gym, when I noticed that the dry patches had started to heal, I for my brushes and my MAC and Inglot palettes out and did an EOTD... It felt so good :)

So here it goes...

What To Wear: To A Euro2012 Match at a Sports Bar :)

Hello everyone :) You all know that I am not a cricket fan... Rather my love and loyalty lies towards football and with the Euro2012 going on, the pati and I have our lives revolving around football mostly :) And so it was very logical to have our pre-anniversary celebrations at a Sports Bar watching the historical England-France match :) Now the match turned out to be quite a dud with it ending as a draw but it was fun nonetheless especially after a couple of Tequila shots ;) Have I ever told you guys how much I abhor Vodka and worship Tequila? Nope I don't think so :P

So anyways, this is what I wore... I finally got to wear my Mango dress and it seemed quite apt too as I was rooting for France and Blue is France's color :D he he ha ha ;)

Dress: Mango
Peep Toes: Local Shoe Boutique

Make-up wise I did a crease cut look with a hint of blue in the crease and kept my lips nude since a sports bar isn't the place to wear a face of full makeup now is it? ;)

Eye-shadows: MAC Ricepaper, MAC Folie and L'Oreal Azure Blonde Blue Eye shadow
Lipstick: MAC Taupe
Liner: Maybelline Gel Liner
Mascara: MAC Zoom Lash Mascara
Blush: Colorbar Blush in Floral Fucsia

I loved the overall minimalistic look :) Pati said I look like a kid with very hot legs :P Then he drew a similarity between the lethal Japanese chick in school uniform in Kill Bill and moi ;) But then I don't believe him, I know he was just trying to earn some brownie points ;)

P.S. Stay tuned for Anniversary outfit and my cake pics ;)

REVIEW: MAC Zoom Fast Black Lash Mascara

I have always been using Maxfactor's False Lash Effect mascara and when I finished my second tube I decided on moving on and trying something from MAC. I have been enjoying a very good and a comfortable relationship with MAC so trying their mascara was something that came naturally to me :) So I went and tried out a couple of them... I tried the opulash and the Zoom fast and finally decided on the Zoom Fast and brought this baby home :)

The MAC Zoom Fast Black Lash mascara comes in a rubber-ized no-fuss tube, which is a simple long pipe like tube with an equally long and thin brush. The mascara is very true to its name and coats each and every lash generously making it look more volumized, lengthened and BLACK in a Zooooooommm :D I am as of now loving this mascara.

One gripe that I have of this mascara is the fact that since the brush is really thin I always end up rubbing off some of the product on my lashlines as well but then again that could be attributed to my lack of "mastery" ;) Ahem!

Btw it stays on for like ever, is easy to come off with even water, does not flake on me and really delivers what it claims to be. Just that the price is a bit too steep for a daily wear mascara :(

Image of The Product:

Comparison Shots:
With MAC Zoom Fast Black Lash Mascara
Bare Lashes

Mascara on the lower lashes as well :)
Price:
It costs INR 1000/-

Oooohhhaaa and Aaahssss!!
1. Delivers what it claims.
2. Super volumizing and lengthening...
3. Love the way it makes my lashes jet black! I haven't used a mascara that does that with just one swipe :)
4. I like the no-fuss long black tube :) It looks so elegant and not "kiddish".
5. It's a part of Back to MAC :D

Ouches!!
1. The price is a bit steep for a daily wear mascara.
2. I find the brush too thin because of which I end up smearing product on the lashlines as well :P But then like I said before it could be because of my lack of skills as well ;)

Repurchase?
I have a feeling I will :)

Would I Recommend?
If you have non-existent lashes like mine then I must suggest you to go for it especially if you have the budget for it :) They really lengthen and volumize your lashes like crazy! :P

Overall Rating:
9/10

Entry1 (Cotton Candy Eyes) For VanityNoApologies' Makeup Contest

Heylo people :) Here's me participating in an eye makeup contest organized by L'Oreal and VanityNoApologies :) The link for the contest is here

I have done a sparkly pastel eye makeup that is fun and fancy at the same time :) It reminds me of cotton candies :) I have used pastel pink, green and blue eye shadows to give it a cool yet ethereal feel to the whole look :)

Quoting Anshita: "Come up with an eye look that involves bright and colourful shades. Make sure the look is wearable so all the people here get some nice ideas to try out next time."
This look is wearable and I myself wore it yesterday! So here's the look :)

The products that I have used are as follows:
1. Eye shadows from Sleek iDivine "Original" palette.
2. Maybelline Gel Liner in my waterline.
3. Sleek Black eye shadow as a liquid liner using Inglot Duraline on my upper lashline.
4. MAC Zoom Fast Lash Mascara
5. MAC Ricepaper as highlighter.
6. MAC Paint Pot in Painterly as base

Hope you guys like this look :)

P.S. My digicam is not working properly, so had to use my phone for the pictures :( Apologies for the not so clear pics...

MAC Lipstick in 'Ruby Woo' & An Attempt at The Pin-Up Girl Look

I have been itching to wear my Ruby Woo since the day I got it and well even though I haven't been getting an opportunity to wear anywhere outside, I just keep applying it on me at home... So it was natural that I would want to do a post about it. Now the thing with MAC Ruby Woo is that it is no ordinary Red lipstick. It is a cult Red Lipstick and in order to honor the "Retro Matte" part of it, I had to a special look... and well what better than an all American Pin-Up girl look ;)

Yeah yeah I am no model-shodel but then a girl can dream can't she? Especially in the confines of her own home? ;) Ha ha! So anyways without much ado, ladies and gentlemen I present you THE look :D

For those who keep asking me to post the "other" side of my face ;)

I have Asian eyes with an almost absent crease and hence I have done a "cut-crease" technique here in order give some depth to my eyes and give an illusion of a crease...

Products Used:
Eyes
1. MAC Ricepaper on the inner half of the lid
2. MAC Cork on the outer half of the lid
3. MAC Carbon on the crease
4. MAC Folie on the crease to soften the black eye shadow.
5. MAC Honesty as a highlighter on the brow bone.

Lips
1. MAC Retro Matte Lipstick in Ruby Woo

Cheeks
1. Colorbar Blush in Floral Fucsia
2. Lakme Highlighter

Now just a bit about Ruby Woo. It is not a "matte" lipstick but a "retro matte" lippy from MAC. Thus it is a tad bit more drying than the regular MAC matte lippies... Yup the lipstick itself is very dry and you do end up tugging your lips a bit... Which is why I like applying it with a lip bush :) It is dry to the point that there is 0 transfer. Yes I promise... 0 transfer! and no it does not highlight the fine lines on my lips and neither does it feel dry. Its the best matte lippy I have worn in a long time! and by far the best Red lippy ever.

If you are not scared of Red lipsticks then go and get it woman! :P

P.S. Don't you think my hair is shining and looking glossy all of a sudden? :) Secret! Will be revealed soon :)
