EOTD & Makeup Break-up: Pink and Taupe

It's been a while I did any EOTDs for the blog... And I promise this time it wasn't laziness ;) The thing is as Winters start setting in and the weather becomes dry, I start getting dry patches over my lids and below my chin :( And though I do use an ointment for it, it does take time for them to heal completely... So last night while washing my face after the gym, when I noticed that the dry patches had started to heal, I for my brushes and my MAC and Inglot palettes out and did an EOTD... It felt so good :)

So here it goes...

REVIEW & LOTD: Bad To Bronze from Maybelline's Eye Studio Color Tattoo Range

Yes yes yes... Another review on yet another Maybelline Eye Tattoo... But this time it is Bad To Bronze... And well I wore it to office... Yes it is a very wearable to office color on its own but can be made dressy with either pairing it with a dramatic colored eye shadow or using it as a base underneath a more shimmery shadow... On its own it subtle and well very flattering is what I finding out as the day progresses. Honest to God, I am really getting a lot of appreciative second glances and well even thinrd and fourth and I must say it is totally feeding my Ego ;) Yeah I know Ego is a bad thing and all that jazz but just sometimes feeding it some fodder can do wonders to your self confidence especially if you have a HUGE PRESENTATION lined up later in the day ;)

So anyways, this shade isn't really bronze-y but is rather like a pale champagne color on my lids and no my lids are not pigmented. They simply blend with my lid color giving it a subtle glow... I love it :) And if I said that Fierce and Tangy was a must have before then darlings this shade is must have with your eyes closed ;)

For a detailed review of Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoos, you could check this post out...

Just a few pointers about these color tattoos:
1. They are gloriously easy to apply when using your fingers... Brushes provided with them do not do justice!
2. They really stay on for the whole day!
3. They do not dry up as fast as MAC paint pots and hence are easier to work with especially if you are planning on a lot of blending :)

Choosing Products for Eye Makeup and Eye Care

Guest Post by Iswarya
Weekend Fun Giveaway July Week 2 Giveaway Entry #15

Eyes are the most sensitive organ in our body. They are very delicate. Eyes are mirrors of our personality. They are so expressive. Eyes show the early signs of aging. Wrinkles and puffiness may develop if we don’t take proper care of it. We must use quality eye care products. Many of you would have been blessed with stunning eyes; for others it is achievable. Little care and pampering can keep your eyes as beautiful as possible. We must ensure that we are not neglecting our eyes. The tissues surrounding the face is different from rest of the face. It is 5-6 times thinner. Soothe sore, tired eyes with these tips.

  • While choosing eye care and eye make-up products make sure that they are nontoxic and safe for use on eyes. We must make healthy choices. When it comes to eyes we must never choose a product based on its marketing.

  • Mineral make up is best for summers. We must keep our eyes clean and avoid products that result in infections.

  • Try to keep your eyes clean.

  • Switch to hypo allergic products.

  • Before buying a product read the complete ingredients list carefully. Stay away from products with ingredients like parabens, talc, and color additives like kohl, silicates and polymers.

  • Eyes have a fragile nature. Don't rub them too hard.

  • Don’t buy any thick or strong creams for the eye. Only a mustard sized amount is enough for the eyes. Apply in dabs. Less is always more when it comes to eyes.

  • Many of us will be using concealers, illuminators etc. for the eyes. Always remember to use an eye make-up remover before going to the bed at night. No traces of make-up should be left.

  • Try to give a light massage to the eyes. Take olive oil in ring finger of left and right hands and massage in semi-circular movements. Don't apply more pressure, be gentle.

  • Everyday morning and night wash your eyes with a splash of water. They will be healthier.

  • Use eye compresses. Simply take a piece of cotton pad and moisten it with the milk/rose water/tea water. Put it on your eyes and wait for 5-8 minutes. Apply a moisturizing eye cream of your choice. This will prevent inflammation of eyes.

  • Eat right, wear sunglasses to protect the eyes from pollution.

  • Sleep well so the blood circulation under your eyes improves. Your eyes need rest.

  • Opt for a good vitamin E eye cream. Retinols can remove discolorations.

  • Choose an eye product according to your specific needs and those which are specially formulated for the eye.

  • Spend some time before the mirror concentrating on your eyes. Analyze yourselves what changes you need to bring to your eyes.

  • Refrigerate your eye cream and use it cold. It works the best this way.

  • Cucumbers can cool and refresh the eyes. Keep two round pieces of cucumber on your eyes for 15 min and relax. Those with dark eyes can use potato slices too.

  • Apply oil to your eyes brows and eye lashes so that it will get lubrication and grows well.  Shape your eyebrows.

  • Try to use natural products. Olive oil can also be used to remove make up.

Hope these tips are quick, simple and useful. Share your ideas and feedback below!

Natures Brilliance By Sue Mineral Eye Colors: Review, Swatches and EOTDs

Today, I am reviewing three mineral eye colors from Nature's Brilliance By Sue. I have been testing on their blush and lip balms too, which I will be reviewing later.  As this is my first review on their products, let us check more about the brand before the product description. About the Brand: Sue is the Sole Proprietor of Nature's Brilliance By Sue. It is located on the East Coast in a small town in New Jersey. It was formed to help people locate products for their skin tone & skin type. Sue has dealt with multiple allergies for years and through persistence and exhaustive research has found a line of natural mineral make-up and organic skin and body care products suitable for all skin types, even those with multiple allergies. Nature's Brilliance By Sue will not sell any product that is not 100% Natural or Organic and has not been tested by the owner her self. Sue has a Diploma in both Holistic Beauty Therapy and Holistic Herbal Therapy; with Certificates in Reflexology, Aromatherapy, Bach Flower Remedies, Crystal Healing, and Business Development for the Alternative Health Therapist, from the Natural Health Institutes, based in Canada.

There is no detailed product description given, but as per the site these mineral eye colors are made of Mica, Iron Oxide. Matte shades contain Serecite (uncolored mica). These are mineral eye colors, hence that becomes a huge plus for all nature lovers. Why should we always go for the chemical ones?

My Experience with these Eye colors
I got a full size pack (Ocean blue) and 2 samples from the brand for reviewing purposes. From my point of view, the packaging is sturdy, fit and travel friendly. Still you need to be careful while application as there may be some fall outs because of the thing that they are loose eye pigments. The eye colors come in a cute small transparent plastic tub with handwritten shade name on the base. Isn't that natural for a mineral eye color? There is an inner vacuum lid present with tiny holes to prevent spillage, overall I don't find anything bad about the packaging.

From my personal experience, I loved all the three shades I got, especially the ocean blue one. The Ocean Blue shade has white, sky blue and bright ink blue shimmers which are glittery. To say about the Mint Shimmer shade, it is a lovely milky pale green shade with white and light green shimmers and the Blue Topaz shade is more glittery while comparing to the other two shades. The Blue Topaz one has a very slight ink blue tint which would not be that visible on your eyelids. All these shades are rich and smooth to be easily applied over your eyelids. A very small amount is needed for your whole eyelid area to achieve a soft look, however you can make it pigmented for a party or festival look. The shades ocean blue and mint shimmer are moderately pigmented with tiny shimmers while the blue topaz one shows just a little blue tint with more shimmery glitters. One needs to be more careful while applying their more glittery shades to prevent here and there' spreading of glitters around the eye areas.
Some shades from the range are moderate pigmented with tiny glitters while the others are very shimmery having a slight tint. Of course, there are some matte shades too. The staying power is approximately 5 to 6 hours which is pretty good for me. These mineral eye colors can be easily removed with your regular cleansing milk. Overall, the mineral eye colors from Nature's Brilliance By Sue are worth every penny to try. You would love to wear them for party and festival eye looks, of course, the less glittery shades can be worn for daily wear too. I am in love with these mineral eye colors mainly for the reasons that they are soft, glittery and available in several number of shades.

PROS
  1. Several shades with different textures available such as shimmer, sparkle and luster.
  2. It is a mineral makeup product. Hence, no need to fear for much chemicals.
  3. No side effects.
  4. Smooth and easy application.
  5. Glittery shades for party/festival wear.
  6. Easily removable with a regular cleansing milk.
  7. Staying power is  5-6 hours, which is decent.
  8. Cute, Sturdy and travel friendly packaging.
  9. Samples are available to try.
  10. Affordable for the worth and quantity they provide.
  11. The color doesn't tend to change. It fades eventually without looking artificial.

CONS
  1. I find nothing bad about these eye colors. You might not like it if you're a lover of deep pigmented matte shade lover. I am not sure though, check out their other shades.
Overall Rating: 4.5/5

Recommendation: I highly recommend these mineral eye colors to all eye makeup and eye color lovers. A wonderful collection to try!

Would I Repurchase?: Do you think I wont? Of course I will purchase more from their collection. I am currently eying out for the soft pink and coral shades.

Chessboard Eyemakeup Tutorial and EOTD

Chessboard eye makeup?  Have you ever heard about this thing anywhere? Even I haven't. I guess it's somewhat a beginner craze for me because I am obsessed with eye makeup nowadays. I am not a pro in it, but still I love to try different things on my eyes and post tutorials here. Please do bear with me girlies, I might not be excellent in these things :P I just do makeup my eyes, especially different things to pass time and show you all here. Okay how did I get this idea? Eager to know? huh I was simply cleaning and arranging things on my cupboard where I happened to see a chessboard. That's it! My brain starting working and connecting it with my makeup and this tutorial is the result of cleaning my cupboard today (after a long time, of course after receiving scoldings from my mom) "Lance.. Won't you keep your cupboard clean? " he he I went somewhere from the topic, let us move on to the tutorial now. Check out my other EOTDs here

Chessboard Eye Makeup Tutorial in 6 steps

Steps
1. Cleanse and prime your eyes. Dust with a compact and line your eyes normally as you line everyday, make it thin. You can also use kajal on your waterline if you wish.

2. Now starting from the center of your upper lash line, draw a slight curvy line pointing upwards. As shown in the image, draw 3 to 4 lines (make the lines little long one after one giving some mm between them).

3. After the lines dry up, draw lines horizontally (I messed up a little as it is my first try) :P till you finish with the last long vertical line. It should be somewhat like that the lower row contains many boxes and goes up in an ascending order.

4. Make sure, you should give time in between these steps to dry or else your eye liner would mess up. I used Lakme Insta Eyeliner here and I had to sit under fan for ages to dry :( I should have gone for something else for perfection. That's okay.. let's chill out.  After this step, you can see little boxes showing your eyelid skin colour.

5. Inside these boxes, fill your white eyeliner and allow it to dry. Touch up after drying for a perfect chessboard look. That's it. You are done! :D

So girls, how many of you have chessboards in your cupboard? :P

Lakme Instaliner Water Resistent Eyeliner Review

Hello girls!
Today I am here up with a  review of Eyeliner from Lakme. This was my second used eyeliner, first one being dazzler. The main reason why I purchased is it's water resistant claim and an affordable prize. Being a student I cannot of afford on costly liners. I didn't even know the difference between water resistant and water proof before using this instaliner. Let me write my experience with this eye liner, my ratings and recommendation in this post. Keep reading!

Lakme Instaliner Water Proof Eyeliner

Price: Rs.75 for 9 ml
Shelf life: 30 months

Ingredient List
A Great Shock!! There's no ingredient list on the pack!!!

What does the Product Claims
Lightweight and comfortable eye make-up for perfect definition
Water-resistant formula ensures no smudging or smearing.
Deep intense color that does not fade.

My View About this Product with Ratings
The Packaging
The product comes in a transparent glass bottle with a sturdy screw type lid. The lid is not too long or short and hence the application is in control every time. If you are a person who looks for cute packaging, this won't be your choice because the packaging is very simple, but yet it is very well packed as the brush is in our control when we line our eyes.
The control of lining is good but the bristle comes in this product is little confusing. When I got the first bottle, the bristle was very fine, neither too thin nor thick but the second bottle's application bristle was worst. So, It is needed to check the applicator before buying this eyeliner. And the other con about the packaging is, no ingredient list mentioned on the bottle. Leave the ingredient list, where's the price? It is not listed on the bottle at all, so there are lots of chances of being cheated by the shopkeeper :P
Rating: 3.5/5 (-1 for bristle issues in some packs and another -0.5 for no price on the pack)

Colour, Consistency and Texture
The colour of the liner is dark black, perfect for everyday use but still we expect need more shades from you Lakme :) To say about the consistency, it is neither too thick nor too thin but I doubt that with regular usage the consistency thickens. The texture of the liner is very smooth and glossy but it gives a matte after it gets dried. If you are looking out for a great matte effect, then this would be a perfect choice. Glossy lovers may not like it much.
Rating: 3.5/5

My Experience with this Eyeliner
This is one of my favorite "daily wear" eyeliner and has my own likes and dislikes about it. The main dislike about this eyeliner is that it takes too long to dry. I have to sit under fan for more than 5 minutes to dry it completely if I lined thick. If it is a thin line on your eyes, it takes 2 to 3 minutes to dry. So no quick drying, this may lead in smudging if not patient. I am not a patient girl hence this becomes a big headache for me about this product :(
When applied looks very glossy on my eyes but after drying completely this shows a perfect matte effect. Even though I loved the shade, I wanted it to be more black to beautify eyes perfectly. Lakme gives a huge quantity for this product, hence it takes months to get finished off. It may even take a year.
When I splash water on my face the eyeliner doesn't comes off or smudges but if rubbed, it smudges a lot and gives and horrible look. So, if you cry, sweat or get wet in rain you should allow the liner to dry before disturbing your eyes. Other than this, this is good for everyday use, especially for all the beginners. It stays all day long and does not peel off or cracks. The bristle and texture is to be improved in this product and price should be mentioned on the package.
Rating: 4/5 ( -1 for the drying time, it takes so long)

PROS
  1. Huge quantity for this affordable price, hence lasts really longer.
  2. The application is in great control and the packaging is good.
  3. I didn't cause any side effects or itching.
  4. The liner doesn't peel off or cracks. Stays on eyes all day long if not rubbed with water.
  5. Water resistant, hence it may suit even if you sweat (but shouldn't rub)
  6. Beginners can use this as a perfect daily eyeliner.

CONS
  1. No ingredient list is mentioned on the pack. This makes sensitive eyes hesitate to buy it.
  2. Even the price is not mentioned. It's a great con because new customers may get cheated by the sellers.
  3. The liner takes long time for drying hence may not satisfy people who look for "quick and easy dry"
  4. The black should be more dark and news shades to be launched. There's only one shade  (black) now.
  5. It is just water resistant, not water proof. This wont be a con for this price and quantity. So use wisely and you will like it :)
  6. In some packs, the application bristles are worst (Others are so good, so check before buying)

Overall Rating: 3.5/5 (-1 for No quick drying, -1 for Ingredients and Price not mentioned, -5 for error in some pack bristles)

My Recommendation: Perfect for everyday use! Good quantity for this much lower price so please take a try! Would suit for beginners well.

Will I repurchase?: Sure! Repurchase of this product is needed only once in a year as it lasts that much longer, when who wont? It's an economical and good buy overall.

REVIEW & LOTD: Faces Mineral Eye Shine Trio In BeechWood

There are times in one's life when we need to veer from our comfort zones, our traditional choices, our favorites and do something unexpected or try something that you know just isn't you. I am not saying change for others but if you watch Dexter then you'll know when I say that sometimes you need to blend in ;) So what is the unexpected that I recently did? haha well, instead of buying a smokey palette or bright shades, I go out and get myself a neutral eye shadow palette. Yup that is what counts as "unexpected" for me :P I am sure many of your girls know what I mean :) Why did I get it? The reason is as simple as wanting something "appropriate" for office ;)

How do I like it? Well I feel that I am in Neutral Heaven and well I am totally enjoying this new palette of mine :) The shadows are all various shades of brown but are as different as they could be. The dark brown and the highlighter shades are matte while the medium shade is satin. They have some really good staying power even without a base. They have decent pigmentation, nothing to be gung-ho about but they work well and I like them :) They look chalky in the palette when they sure are not :)

LOTD

Ooohhss And Aaaahhhs!!
1. It is a well co-ordinated neutral palette perfect for every day use.
2. Decent pigmentation.
3. Has really good staying power even without a primer or base.
4. The case is sleek and hence can be easily carried around in your purse, even a clutch ;)
5. Comes with a nice BIG mirror, which seriously is ultra helpful.
6. The sponge applicator that comes with it isn't totally useless and is of pretty good quality.
7. The shadows apply smoothly and are very easily blendable.

Ouches!!
1. The case from outside has an "old, used" look :(
2. Some may find 600/- for this palette a bit on the expensive side especially if you compare it to the Maybelline Chai Latte Quad.

Price
It costs INR 599/- but I got it on sale for INR 299/- :)

Repurchase
If I do get over with it then definitely but I don't think I will be picking up other shades from this range.

Would I Recommend?
Oh yes! If you are looking for a nice neutral palette for your office or college or even for those "natural no make-up" days then this is the palette for you!!

Overall Rating
8.5/10
